Henderson Teen Faces Murder Charges after He tried to Steal Was Pens in a Drug Deal and shot other Teens involved in the Deal in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV: Charges of attempted murder have been filed against a 17-year-old Henderson kid in connection with a narcotics sale that escalated into violence earlier this month.

Around 4:16 p.m. on Monday, April 1, Las Vegas police showed up at an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Escondido Street. On arrival, medical personnel noticed two teenagers, one with a gunshot wound to the arm and the other to the head.

Not long after the cops showed up, both were taken to Sunrise Hospital. Lucas Murphy, a 17-year-old suspect, was there at the site to sell “wax pens” to multiple other minors, according to detectives.

During questioning, one of the youths would admit to contacting Murphy and offering to pay $70 for a trio of pens. On the other hand, the youngster did confess to having “did not have the money and planned to steal the pens,” as stated in the report.

The adolescent allegedly approached Murphy just before the shooting with his phone “so it looked like he had CashApp open to pay,” according to the complaint, and then took the pens and ran away. After returning to his residence, the youngster discovered he had been injured in the arm; he had heard “two gunshots” while fleeing.

While recovering at an apartment, the adolescent noticed that one of the other youths had gone missing. According to his account to the detectives, the cops showed up not long after and told the teenager that they had found a wounded individual outside as per Fox5 Vegas.

After reviewing security footage from CCSD, detectives concluded that Murphy was spotted driving a light blue Ford Mustang in the vicinity. Police were able to track Murphy down to his Henderson home after looking up the license plate. While there, they saw Murphy trying to conceal the vehicle behind a gate. After leaving his apartment in a different vehicle, Murphy was caught by the police and put into arrest.

Currently, Murphy is facing one charge of discharging a firearm at an occupied structure in addition to three counts of attempted murder. He was released on bail and subject to electronic monitoring on Thursday, April 4, according to court records.

On July 24, he must appear before the court once more for a preliminary hearing.
