ORANGE, CA – Two teenagers were left in critical condition after a motorized scooter crash in Orange on Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2:05 p.m. near Hewes Street and Via Lardo Avenue. Authorities say the teens were riding on a single scooter and traveling on the wrong side of the road when they collided with the front passenger side of an oncoming Tesla Model Y.

Neither teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. The impact left them with severe injuries, and they were transported to a local hospital, where they remained in critical condition as of Tuesday night.

Sky5 footage captured police tape surrounding a large section of the residential street near the crash site. The Tesla driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police stated that neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash for the driver.

The identities and ages of the teens have not been released as the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Orange Police Detective Rocha at 714-744-7342.
