Worker At Marijuana Shop Assaults Investigator During Attempted Store Closure in New York

New York City: Prosecutors announced on Thursday that an investigator was violently attacked by an enraged employee of an illegal cannabis shop in Brooklyn. The incident occurred late last year when the investigator arrived to shut down the smoke shop.

A 27-year-old individual named Arjante Moss reportedly pushed a visitor out of Big Chief Exotics Smoke Shop in Bay Ridge on December 18th. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s office stated that Moss also damaged a door by striking it with the visitor’s arm after realizing that the individual was a law enforcement agent.

Officials from the Department of Taxation and Finance arrived at the store to close it down following a closure order.

The illicit shop underwent two unexpected inspections by the Office of Cannabis Management before the incident, during which unlicensed marijuana products were confiscated.

The office has instructed them to halt their unlicensed activity, according to a statement by Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

However, prosecutors stated that they persisted in selling the marijuana products.

Following the incident, the victim sustained bruising to the left arm. Authorities successfully took action to permanently close the store.
Moss is facing charges of assault, obstructing governmental administration, and harassment.

Moss was arraigned on Wednesday in Brooklyn Supreme Court and entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. His upcoming court appearance is scheduled for March 20.
