Woman Brutally Assaulted, Strangled by Man in Nebraska; Suspect Also Shot Her Dogs during Incident
HARRISBURG, Nebraska-
A Harrisburg resident has been arrested and is now in custody following an incident where the Nebraska State Patrol reported that he assaulted a woman and discharged a firearm toward her dogs.
Andrew Jochem, 34, was apprehended by troopers in Harrisburg over the weekend. He is charged with assault by strangulation, making terroristic threats, using a deadly weapon to commit a felony, possessing a firearm while committing a felony, and third-degree assault.
According to court documents, authorities were called to a residence northeast of Harrisburg, where they discovered that Jochem had engaged in a heated dispute with a woman. It was during this altercation that Jochem fired shots at her dogs.
According to the documents, it was revealed that a handgun was taken from Jochem’s waistband.
A trooper received information that the woman had fled from the residence, but she was subsequently discovered with injuries to her body and throat.
Jochem appeared in Banner County Court and is currently in custody with a bond set at $75,000. In order to secure his release, he is required to pay 10% of the bond.
Law enforcement from multiple agencies, including the Banner County Sheriff’s Office, Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s, and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, provided assistance.
