Wife Brutally Killed and Chopped by Husband right after 3 Months of Marriage; Lands in Jail leaving Parents Reeling with Grief
Houston, TX- A man from Texas has been given a 40-year prison sentence after admitting to the brutal murder of his wife in 2023.
A shocking discovery was made by the in-laws, who found the body of the 21-year-old newlywed dismembered in their own home. This tragic incident occurred just three months after their marriage.
During a news briefing, Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry mentioned that Discus’ father wasted no time in contacting the police upon discovering Diaz’s body. During police questioning, Discus reportedly admitted to the murder.
Dicus has been sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division, according to a press release by Whittmore.
Concerns about Dicus’ mental capacity were raised during the pre-trial phase of the case. Nevertheless, a court-ordered examination confirmed his competency to stand trial.
According to the terms of his plea agreement, Dicus has chosen not to appeal the verdict, the sentence, or any potential defense to prosecution. This includes his ability to use an insanity defense in the future, as stated in the release.
Diaz’s family was informed of the terms prior to the completion of the plea agreement.
Dicus will be eligible for parole in the year 2043. Nevertheless, the district attorney emphasizes that being eligible for parole does not guarantee its approval.
According to Guidry, the police had been called to the residence of Diaz and her former partner on previous occasions. However, the incidents were not as severe or violent as the one that led to Diaz’s tragic death.
The sheriff mentioned that the crime would have a lasting impact on both families.
“The best you can say is that’s the world we live in today. It’s a gruesome scene. And both sides of these families are gonna be altered by it, either way, suspect and the victim’s,” Guidry said.
“It is gruesome. It’s a gruesome crime. Hopefully, everything turns out to end up the best way it can at this point,” he continued.
Last year, Guidry described a gruesome scene during a press conference, where officers encountered a dismembered body and a blood-covered residence.
The district attorney made a strong statement on Wednesday regarding the stance of Waller County on domestic violence.
“Heinous crimes like this one will not go unanswered, we will seek justice for the victims of domestic violence and send a message to the perpetrators that here, we fight for our victims,” Whittmore said Wednesday. “The DA’s office also thanks the Waller County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation and their service to the victim’s family and to the people of Waller County.”
