Warehouse Raid Nets Massive Psychedelic and Cannabis Drug Haul in Costa Mesa

Authorities apprehended multiple individuals and confiscated more than 500 pounds of cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms at a warehouse believed to be a center for unlawful drug transactions in Costa Mesa.

On Friday, the Laguna Beach Police Department revealed that an operation conducted on April 1 was linked to an earlier search warrant carried out at Cinder Box Smoke Shop in late January.

A report from the Los Angeles Times reveals that a search warrant issued in January led to several arrests at a nearby smoke shop, along with the confiscation of approximately 3.8 pounds of similar drugs.

Through that operation, investigators successfully identified the Costa Mesa warehouse and verified its role as a center for the unlawful distribution of cannabis and psychedelic substances.

After several months, officials from various agencies collaborated to carry out a search warrant at the location.

“Upon executing the warrant, officers detained and identified the several suspects connected to the illegal sales of controlled substances,” police said in a release.

Authorities refrained from disclosing the identities of any suspects or detailing the number of arrests in their preliminary statement.

The agency reported the seizure of approximately 451 pounds of cannabis items, encompassing loose marijuana buds, THC concentrates, and edibles.

Furthermore, officials confiscated approximately 54 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, commonly referred to as “magic mushrooms” or “shrooms.” Among the items were chocolate bars, microdose candies, and whole mushrooms.

“The investigation remains ongoing, and charges related to the unlawful sale of controlled substances are pending,” said the department.

The Laguna Beach Police Department urges community members to notify authorities about any unusual behavior or illicit drug transactions.
