UNLV Shootings: Shooter Who Claimed 3 Lives Shot Dead by Police

Las Vegas, Nevada: In a midday attack on Wednesday, a gunman at UNLV opened fire on groups of people in two campus buildings, killing at least three people and sending students running for their lives from their final semester classes until the gunman was shot and killed by police.

According to police, a fourth shooting victim is now in stable condition after being initially listed in critical condition at a hospital.

At 11:45 a.m. local time, authorities received a report about an active shooter close to Beam Hall, which houses the university’s Lee Business School. According to a university alert, police were called in in response to more gunfire at the Student Union building on Wednesday. The building is located directly next to Beam Hall. Staff members and students were instructed to flee to a safe location. The suspect was declared dead by police at 12:37 p.m. local time.

The university declared that all southern Nevada campuses of the Nevada System of Higher Education would be closed for the rest of the day.

The police Department has not disclosed the identity of the shooter. The identity is not revealed until a relative of the suspect is informed of the whole incident.

The police have taken the matter into their own hands and are now investigating the motive behind the shootings.
