Two people were stabbed in a Miami apartment building after a suspect was approached for spitting

MIAMI — Police say a suspect stabbed two individuals in an apartment complex in Miami’s Grapeland Heights neighborhood on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the Miami Riverfront Residences, 2601 NW 16th Street Road, according to police.

Officer Kiara Delva, a Miami Police Department spokesperson, stated that the suspect attacked a guy who “confronted (him) for spitting on the premises.”

According to police, he then stabbed a woman who tried to intervene. Both victims were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and are expected to survive.

“A possible suspect has been detained and the investigation remains ongoing,” Delva informed the audience.

Authorities have yet to publicly identify the accused offender.
