Twin-Infants tested positive for Fentanyl; Garden Grove Parents Land in jail after Pleading Guilty

Garden Grove, CA: A Garden Grove couple pleaded guilty to child abuse after their 5-month-old twin sons tested positive for fentanyl and one of the babies had a skull fracture. They were promptly sentenced to four years in jail.

Lauren Marie Hinton, 30, and Alexander Santiago, 34, admitted guilt to two felony charges of child abuse and endangerment. Hinton admitted to a felony charge of smuggling fentanyl into jail, as shown in court papers.

Hinton took one of the infants to Children’s Hospital of Orange County on Jan. 5 due to concerns about his condition. Tests revealed the presence of fentanyl in his blood and a skull fracture, as reported by Garden Grove Police Department Sgt. Nick Jensen.

Police visited the family’s residence to speak with the father and discovered that the victim’s twin also tested positive for fentanyl, as stated by Jensen.
