Trio Fled After Robbing a Tobacco Shop in Rural Illinois

Oak Lawn, Illinois: After a heist on Tuesday night, a panic alarm at a tobacco shop prompted an immediate response and an Everbridge alert to Oak Lawn.

Tuesday at 5 p.m., an employee at Tobacco Island, 11051 S. Cicero Ave., triggered a panic alarm, prompting Oak Lawn police officers to respond to a robbery report.

Three men entered the store, the employee told the police. As the employee examined one of the suspects’ IDs, she noticed the other two snatching merchandise and bolt out the door.

According to the police, the employee was punched in the face during a struggle that broke out after he managed to stop the third man from running.

All the robbers were black males. The employee described the first suspect as around 6 feet tall. He was wearing a blue puffy coat, white sweatshirt, red sweatpants, and red Jordan gym shoes. The man was of thin build.

The second suspect, who was about 6 feet tall and had a thin build, was wearing red and white gym shoes with a gray/beige jumpsuit.

The third suspect also had a lean build-up and was wearing a black sweatshirt, black jeans, and black shoes. The trio left the scene and was last seen running east down 111th Street.
