A transgender inmate has been transferred from a California women’s prison following an indictment for rape.

Tremaine Deon Carroll, 51, has been transferred to a men’s prison as he confronts two charges of rape and one of ‘dissuading a witness from testifying.

Jane Doe, one of Carroll’s alleged victims, recounts a horrifying incident of assault and rape that took place in the shower at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla, located approximately 150 miles southeast of San Francisco.

In addition to the initial victim, the criminal complaint also refers to another individual who remains unnamed.

Carroll has been transferred to Valley State Prison in Delano, which is a male-only facility.

51-year-old Tremaine Deon Carroll, who identifies as transgender, has been relocated to a men’s prison due to facing charges of rape and ‘dissuading a witness from testifying’.

Jane Doe, in an interview with DailyMail.com, shared her harrowing experience of an assault she endured in the showers in January 2024. According to her, the incident was deeply invasive and involved her new cellmate, Carroll.

She has been deeply affected by the incident, experiencing severe trauma and finding it difficult to shower regularly. Basic hygiene now serves as a reminder, evoking the horror of her ordeal.

Jane Doe, a woman in her thirties and of petite stature, was serving a brief sentence for a burglary.

According to insiders familiar with her situation, she made a request to prison officials to switch her cell and ultimately decided to share a room with two other female inmates and a transgender prisoner named Carroll.

According to court documents, Carroll faced charges of theft and firearm possession offenses during his juvenile years in 1988 and 1989.

In 1990, Carroll faced legal consequences for his participation in a serious crime, which involved the abduction, theft, and sexual assault of two women.

Carroll faced charges related to a specific act involving a victim, but these charges were later dropped.

Carroll admitted guilt for just two counts of kidnapping and received a prison sentence of 10 years and 8 months.

Following his release, Carroll, who was 25 years old at the time, committed another offense in 1998. He was subsequently arrested and convicted for the robbery of a jewelry store.

The crime triggered the enforcement of California’s ‘Three Strikes and You’re Out’ law, which imposes additional penalties on individuals with three prior serious felony convictions.

Carroll has been serving a minimum sentence of 25 years to life and has remained incarcerated ever since.

Now, at the age of 51, standing at a height of 6ft 2in and weighing approximately 200lbs, Carroll possesses a strong physical presence.

In the mugshot photos, Carroll is seen with a noticeable amount of black and grey facial hair and openly identifies as a transgender woman, although she has not yet had sex reassignment surgery.

Jane Doe asserts Carroll showed a sudden attraction towards her soon after being placed in the same cell.
