Trans Inmate Brutally Assaulted by Another Inmate in New York Jail; Perpetrator Used Makeshift Weapon to Coerce Victim
A transgender inmate at Rikers Island was allegedly attacked by another inmate inside her jail cell, according to Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark’s announcement on Friday.
An inmate reportedly used a homemade ice pick to coerce a transgender inmate into engaging in sexual acts.
“Sexual violence against any individual in jail will be vigorously prosecuted,” Clark stated. “The assailant, reportedly brandishing a sharp weapon, presented the victim with a horrifying ultimatum: either be stabbed or subjected to sexual assault.”
An incident occurred on May 12, 2022, where the defendant allegedly assaulted a transgender inmate in her cell at the Anna M. Kross Center detention facility, as revealed by an investigation as reported by Pix11 News.
A 34-year-old man named Kelvin Williams was reportedly caught on surveillance camera pacing in front of the victim’s cell. According to court records, he allegedly created an improvised ice pick and presented the victim with a disturbing ultimatum: to be stabbed or subjected to sexual assault.
The defendant’s next court appearance is scheduled for September.
