Texas Adoption Scandal: Lawyer Arrested For Attempted Sale Of Unborn Babies
An arrest has been made regarding a North Texas adoption agency founder who is accused of engaging in questionable activities involving pregnant female inmates at the Tarrant County Jail.
Jody Hall, the head of Adoptions International Inc., was recently booked into a Central Texas jail and has since posted a $50,000 bond. She is an attorney and the founder of an adoption agency that is promoted as a licensed nonprofit.
In May, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into alleged unethical adoption practices involving Hall.
After a span of two months, arrest warrants were served on Hall by sheriff’s detectives at her residence in Kyle, Texas.
In 2019, the U.S. State Department revoked Adoptions International’s accreditation due to its failure to uphold standards. This decision prohibits the agency from participating in international adoptions.
In Texas, the act of selling or purchasing a child is considered a felony.
There is currently uncertainty surrounding whether inmates in the Tarrant County jail have received any money or placed their babies up for adoption.
