Tesla Layoffs: 6000 Jobs Cut in California and Texas as per Latest WARN Notice
Palo Alto, CA: The electric vehicle giant, Tesla, has announced layoffs at their California and Texas facility.
According to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act letters and notices filed in both California and Texas, Tesla is terminating 3,332 jobs in California and 2,688 positions in Austin, Texas.
In California, there were 2,266 layoffs in Fremont, where Tesla’s first U.S. vehicle assembly factory is located, and 486 employees in Palo Alto, where Tesla’s engineering center is situated. Workers in the company’s factories, engineering offices, stores, showrooms, and service centers around the state are expected to be impacted by the layoffs.
A reduction in employment was also observed in Burbank and Lathrop, locations where Tesla engages in the production of replacement parts at a foundry and the assembly of Megapack, battery energy storage systems.

The workforce reductions are a component of a more extensive reorganization that the electric vehicle manufacturer declared in the previous week.
Elon Musk said that the company is now focussing on affordable options that production will start either in early 2025 or in late 2024.
“So it’s not contingent on any new factory or massive new production line. If somebody doesn’t believe Tesla is going to solve autonomy I think they should not be an investor,” he said.
After this announcement, the Tesla Stock jumped in extended trading with a 13% increase despite the flagging sales and increased competition.
