Teens allegedly brought a fully Automatic Handgun to a physical altercation near Sprinker Rec Center in Pierce County, Washington

Two individuals are currently facing serious injury after bullets broke out during a fistfight in Spanaway. Two males, aged 19 and 20, are now facing felony charges.

On Wednesday, in Pierce County Superior Court, Raffael Lamarr Slaughter Jr. and Marlo Raloine Clair were each indicted on two charges of first-degree assault and unauthorized possession of a machine gun.

During their arraignment, their attorneys submitted pleas of not guilty. Barbara McInvaille, the commissioner, ordered bail for Slaughter at $300,000. There was a $250,000 bond posted for Clair. Allegedly, Clair brought the gun to the altercation, and Slaughter shot the two victims, who were 22 and 25 years old, with it.

On Tuesday, deputies found Slaughter and Clair in a car and arrested them. Jurors found a Glock-style handgun in Clair’s jeans, along with an extended magazine, a “switch” that allowed the weapon to be fully automatic, and components from a stolen weapon, as detailed in court records.

Clair chose not to speak with the police. Following an interview with investigators, Slaughter allegedly stated that he opened fire on the group because the young woman who had been the center of the conflict was the target of an assault. His declared goal, according to reports, was to intimidate the two victims into ceasing their altercation with the woman, and he emphasized this point on many occasions.

Pretrial services revealed that neither of the defendants had any prior convictions. Slaughter Jr. said he was a nomad who had most recently worked as a laborer for Amazon. Supposedly, Clair used to work for a tug and barge business and now resides in Tacoma.

According to court documents, neither Slaughter nor Clair had a defense attorney. Their arraignment attorney was a representative from the Department of Assigned Counsel.

The victim, a 25-year-old man named J.R., and the accused, Jason Slaughter, were coworkers at a fast food joint two years ago, and the charging papers state that they were both romantically involved with the same individual. After being romantically involved, Slaughter and the girl began to harass the victim at his new job on a regular basis, according to a witness.

Slaughter and J.R. allegedly agreed to fight on Monday after the harassment continued for some time. At approximately 8:30 p.m., after exchanging texts regarding the plans, the two met in the Sprinker Recreation Center parking lot with a minimum of five others: the 25-year-old sister and her boyfriend, the young woman at the center of the dispute, defendant Clair—her older brother—and Clair’s girlfriend.

The story goes that Clair pulled up in a car and got out brandishing a pistol. A quarrel ensued between Slaughter and J.R. A deputy from the Sheriff’s Department stated in a report that at least one of their companions had recorded what appeared to be a “simple fist fight” between the two. Someone claims they overheard Clair asking J.R. if he wanted to die and making comments about gang membership.

According to the records, Clair allegedly handed Slaughter his pistol and then intervened to defend J.R., who appeared fatigued. Allegedly, the young woman, Clair, and his girlfriend attacked the man’s sister when she attempted to separate the two while J.R. sprinted away from Clair and made a beeline for his car.

The sister witnessed Slaughter shoot J.R. and her boyfriend with the handgun as she was being assaulted, as stated in the probable cause declaration. After that, Slaughter, Clair, and the rest ran away.

There was a third eyewitness who saw three or four individuals arguing in the recreation center’s parking lot just before a pickup truck accelerated in and pulled up next to them. The eyewitness stated that a man brandishing a tiny pistol emerged from the car, shouted “watch out,” and then opened fire on the fractious group, firing twenty to thirty shots in fast succession.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., deputies from the Sheriff’s Department arrived at the location and discovered “numerous” 9 mm shot casings dispersed around a pool of blood.

The Parkland emergency department received the two wounded victims after a while, and the Tacoma General Hospital was the destination for both of them, say the Sheriff’s Department. According to the records, J.R. had to undergo emergency surgery after a bullet penetrated an artery. Reportedly, the second victim sustained gunshot wounds to the head and legs.
