Teenagers arrested after multiple Car Break-ins; Police say all of them runaways from the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home in Bibb County

Four teenagers, ranging in age from thirteen to sixteen, were apprehended on Tuesday by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office. They are alleged vehicle breakers and were believed to be runaways from the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home in Bibb County.

The suspects were apprehended near Jones County High School after police responded to around fifteen to twenty instances of vehicle theft in the Crestview Woods area early Tuesday morning. As a result, four schools were placed on lockdown.

The perpetrators attempted to escape the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home by stealing a vehicle in Bibb County, according to Investigator John Simmons. The facility did not immediately react to a request for comment. It houses males who have suffered trauma and are between the ages of 11 and 18.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspects in Jones County also made off with a diesel truck, but it malfunctioned shortly after they refueled it. They allegedly started making their way towards the elementary and high schools in Jones County while brandishing a stolen weapon, and then they ran away on foot.

According to Simmons, the weapon was thrown by one of the suspects during the pursuit and was later discovered by the authorities behind Jones County Pre-K.

When the four suspects were taken into custody, all the schools went back to their regular schedules.

On Tuesday, the four individuals in question were expected to be sent to a Regional Youth Detention Center.

The inquiry has not concluded yet. The authorities have not revealed the identities of the teenagers.
