Los Angeles, CA: Five individuals, including a 13-year-old boy, have been apprehended by the Los Angeles police for their involvement in the vandalism and looting of a cherished local bakery.

Authorities revealed the arrests at a press conference held on Tuesday.

A stolen vehicle was used to forcefully enter Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food during the early morning hours of Jan. 2.

A “ram-raiding” incident occurred after a street takeover in the vicinity. Surveillance cameras recorded the theft that occurred inside the Compton bakery.

The police utilized the footage to successfully identify the five individuals involved. The owners suffered significant financial losses due to the crime, including damage and stolen merchandise.

During the press conference, authorities revealed that a 13-year-old was responsible for driving the stolen Kia, repeatedly ramming it into the main entrance of the business until it was successfully breached.

After the doors were opened, a massive crowd stormed the bakery, seizing baked goods, snacks, and other items. The heavily damaged Kia was abandoned at the location.

A 13-year-old suspect was previously arrested on Jan. 12 for driving a stolen vehicle, commercial burglary, and felony vandalism. However, according to KTLA, he was cited and released on the same day.

Authorities later identified him through the bakery’s security footage and linked him to an attempted robbery at a 7-Eleven in Carson. Four more individuals were apprehended on Tuesday, although their identities remain undisclosed.

Ruben’s Bakery & Mexican Food is now open again as of January 5th. Security footage helped the Los Angeles police identify the teenager and four others involved.
