Teen Called 911 After Finding Mother and Brother Shot in Saratoga Springs Home

Miami Standard (Saratoga Springs, UT) – Police have identified an 8-year-old kid who died Friday in an alleged shooting in a Saratoga Springs townhouse. His mother, who was also shot, is in critical condition.

Saratoga Springs police issued a statement on Sunday named Eli Painter as the kid who died, saying they suspect he was shot. It also names the wounded woman found with him as Jessica Lyman, his mother, aged 44.

A 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also present at the house at 1244 North Willowbrook Lane, according to police, with the girl calling 911 after discovering her mother and brother were unconscious.

More information about the shooting and where the two were injured was not made available.

When authorities arrived at the home at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, they determined Eli was “deceased without chance of revival,” according to the statement.

Paramedics treated Lyman and flew her to a hospital in critical condition, where she remained Sunday, according to police.

On Friday, cops cordoned off the home and began hunting for witnesses. Police were also looking for potential surveillance video.

Forensic investigators and victim advocates arrived on the scene Friday. Police stated Sunday that the search for potential suspects is underway.
