Teen Arrested After Allegedly Murdering Mother, Stepfather in Wisconsin

Miami Standard (Waukesha, WI) – According to reports, a teenager killed his mother and stepfather at their Wisconsin home before leaving the state with plans to travel overseas.

On February 28, Nikita Casap, 17, was taken into custody in Kansas, weeks after authorities claimed he had killed his stepfather, Donald Mayer, 51, and mother, Tatiana Casap, 35. Police said in a March 26 criminal complaint that they thought the couple had been slain on or around February 11 and that Nikita Casap had remained at the house with their remains for a few days before he allegedly stole the family car and left the scene. On February 28, after Nikita Casap had missed two weeks of school, the school she attended phoned Waukesha police to perform a welfare check, alerting the authorities to the family’s residence.

Police found a gruesome scene when they arrived.

The complaint claims that when officers arrived in the hallway, they smelled “the odour of decay” and saw something covered by a blanket. Police discovered a woman in a winter coat after removing the blanket. The allegation claimed that her face was “blackened with decomposition.” In the end, she was recognised as Tatiana Casap. She was shot four times, in the wrist, upper body, belly, and neck, according to an autopsy.

Police discovered Mayer’s lifeless body in the home’s office, with “an obvious wound” to the back of his head. “Pillows and blankets covered his body.”

In addition, the police reported that Mayer’s automobile and the family dog were gone. The complaint detailed the investigation that used security cameras, phone records, and purported credit card transactions from his parents to locate down Nikita Casap. From February 12 to February 23, Casap’s purchases in Waukesha using his parents’ cards were monitored by the police chronology.

According to the complaint, Nikita Casap pretended that his stepfather was still alive by replying to SMS on his phone throughout that period. Mayer’s mother was one of the recipients of those texts; on February 23, she reported to police in a previous criminal complaint that local Fox station WITI was able to get that she was receiving “weird text messages” from her son’s phone. On February 24, his phone apparently texted Mayer’s manager at work, “Due to unfortunate circumstances, I will be out for another week.” Police were informed by both recipients that the texts were unusual for Mayer.

According to the complaint, Nikita Casap was also allegedly captured on video within the residence. The boy was observed going into the rooms where his parents’ remains were found on home surveillance footage taken between February 16 and February 22. He allegedly took pictures of his stepfather and lit candles besides his mother’s body, according to the police. According to detectives, Nikita Casap’s stepfather could be heard on the cameras stating, “So you can see him there.” There, I can actually see the f—ing disgusting body.

According to a witness interviewed by police, Nikita Casap allegedly revealed that he intended to murder both his parents and himself. He told her that “he had a happy childhood, but wanted to know how it felt to not exist,” she told the police. The complaint claims that the witness tried to dissuade the adolescent from carrying out his purported plans by constantly telling him that he needed assistance. He warned her that “it wouldn’t end well” if she told anyone what he had said.

Police downloaded the data of Nikita Casap’s cellphone after apprehending him and apprehending him in Kansas. The witness told authorities during her interrogation that Casap was allegedly in contact with “a male in Russia.” (Nikita Casap is originally from Moldova, as is his mother.) Conversations from January that Nikita Casap had on the Telegram app suggested that he wanted to escape to Ukraine, according to evidence discovered on his phone. He allegedly said to an unidentified receiver, “So I’ll be able to live a normal life while in Ukraine? even if it turns out that I did it? He commented, “Also I should probably brush up on my Russian, because I can understand just fine but speaking it is harder lol,” in response to a Russian response from the individual he was allegedly speaking to during another conversation.

A message about money Nikita Casap was receiving appeared on his phone on February 8, just days before investigators suspected the alleged double murder. It said, “That includes the headphones as well? High-quality one to shield against.357 Magnum gunfire. Just to be certain.

He appeared in court on March 27 and the judge set bail at $1 million. April 9 is his next court date.
