Swarm of teenagers physically and verbally abuse couple and loot Southern California Ralphs

A huge gang of adolescents on motorcycles was seen on mobile cameras stealing a Ralphs, spraying pepper spray at the Los Angeles store before turning their attention to a married couple, flinging insults and rocks at their vehicle, terrifying them.

The event occurred on April 19 at the Ralphs grocery store on Vermont Avenue and Adams Street, near the University of Southern California, Los Angeles campus.

Ryan Benson, one of the victims, told KTLA’s Sandra Mitchell that he and his husband were afraid and felt trapped in their vehicle as the scenario developed.

“Saying things like, ‘You guys are gay?’ “Homophobic slurs, hitting the car, throwing bottles,” Benson explained.

According to reports, the group of teenagers surged into the grocery shop, ignoring security commands, grabbing things, and spraying pepper spray inside.

“There was so much pepper spray in the air that everyone in the store was coughing, sneezing, hiding their face under their shirt,” Benson told me.

This is not the first time a huge, raucous group of youngsters has caused havoc on city streets.

In January, a group of adolescents on bicycles surrounded the driver of a Mercedes in the Mid-Wilshire area and vandalised the vehicle.

Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department believe the Ralphs group may be linked to other similar crimes, such as kicking and beating a victim near Beverly Hills in February and looting 7-Eleven convenience stores throughout the city.

As for Benson and his husband, he stated that the group’s damage to his automobile will cost thousands of dollars to fix.

“Our window is broken, our windscreen is cracked, both doors are dented, and there is a dent with paint damage,” he told me. “I understand that they’re children, but these are really scary things and we can’t just decide that it’s not happening.”

While no charges have been made, Benson has shared the footage on social media and stated that some of the adolescents he believes were engaged in the incident have since threatened him.
