Suspect chopped woman when she was alive, removed head from torso. Autopsy report reveals shocking details about gruesome killing in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA: New information on the death of a woman is being revealed almost four months after her dismembered torso was discovered in a garbage can in Encino.
The body parts of 37-year-old Mei Li Haskell were positively identified the next month when the dismembered body parts were discovered on November 8, 2023.
Her autopsy revealed a “deferred” cause of death and a homicide as the method of death.
Haskell was found to be “absent” from the “head, majority of the neck, and majority of all 4 extremities,” according to the report from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
Noting that the “amputation sites” were “remarkably smooth,” the study implies that a “sharp power tool was likely used.”
“There was no definitive indication that the dismemberment occurred antemortem, however, the possibility that the head and neck removal was initiated prior to death cannot be entirely excluded,” according to the study.
Samuel Bond Haskell, 35, was accused of murdering his wife and her parents, who are still missing, along with other charges.

He has been jailed without bail since January, when he entered a not guilty plea.
An further claim of several murders is included in the murder charges. If found guilty of all charges, Samuel Haskell faces a maximum sentence of life without parole.
Samuel Haskell, the victims, and their three small children were last seen by officials on or around November 6, 2023, from their house in the 4100 block of Coldstream Terrace in Tarzana.
The District Attorney’s Office states that Samuel Haskell allegedly hired four laborers to remove multiple heavy black plastic trash bags from the residence. One of the workers allegedly discovered body remains inside one of the bags, prompting the worker to phone 911.
