Student arrested after gun found near Palmetto Senior High School

Miami: Authorities said that a man from South Florida was taken into custody for carrying a firearm on the premises of a Miami-Dade high school.
Police say that Ethan Duey, 19, was arrested on Wednesday for carrying a gun on Miami Palmetto Senior High School’s Pinecrest grounds.
According to the police, the gun was in his car, which was on school property.
Duey’s girlfriend attends Palmetto Senior High, and the two got into a fight inside the school, according to an arrest form. According to the report, she told police that Duey had threatened to shoot her.
A 9MM handgun with a round in the chamber and a loaded magazine inside was discovered by the responding officers when they searched Duey’s car. The report also states that “multiple 9MM bullets were found around the inside of the vehicle, a handgun holster, and multiple magazines were discovered inside the vehicle as well.”
Following his arrest, Duey was brought to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Facility.
He is being prosecuted on multiple counts, including aggravated assault with a firearm and firearm possession on school property.
According to an arrest report, Duey was also detained on January 18 for possessing a gun on school property.
