A couple from Robertsdale was apprehended on Thursday evening on allegations of aggravated child abuse. They are currently being held without bond.

William and Kelsey Brewer are each accused of one count of aggravated child abuse, a class B felony.

Robertsdale Police have reported that the assault was reported to the Department of Human Resources by school employees, who subsequently contacted the police.

The minor informed investigators that the stepmother threw a lunch box at them on one occasion, according to the police. According to the police, the incident led to swelling in the mouth and a split lip. This prompted the police to conduct a home visit, during which they discovered that there were numerous reports of abuse.

The utmost penalty for Aggravated Child Abuse is a maximum of 20 years in prison as reported by Honk News.
