South Bay Teen Fentanyl Poisoning Death: Accused Imprisoned For 20 Years

A Rolling Hills man, who gave fentanyl-laced pills to a 15-year-old boy who ate them and died, was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on Friday.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that 22-year-old Alexander Declan Bell Wilson was found guilty in May following a five-day trial for the distribution of fentanyl that caused death.

Wilson allegedly gave 15-year-old Nathan Young-Nichols five “percs,” or pills laced with fentanyl, on May 14, 2020, according to the evidence.
The teenager thought the pills he purchased were “genuine pharmaceutical pills that contained the opioid oxycodone,” according to the prosecution.

The following morning, the teenager’s grandmother discovered him dead in his bedroom. Investigators found that fentanyl poisoning was the only cause of his death.

Wilson’s sentencing hearing was set for October 20 by United States District Judge Fernando L. Aenlle-Rocha. At that time, Wilson could receive a life sentence in prison in addition to the mandatory 20 years. Since May 2021, Wilson has been held by the federal government.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Overdose Justice Task Force looked into this case.
