Son Strangled Mom to Death in Indiana after Mom told Him to Get a Job: Authorities

An employee at Loyola University Chicago, who resides in Indiana, has given an eviction notice to her 19-year-old son. He allegedly caused her death by strangulation.
According to online court records, Shanelle Burns, 43, filed an eviction notice against her son, Conner Kobold, now 20, on February 5. On that particular day, authorities in Valparaiso, Ind., received a report of an assault following multiple calls made to 911 by Kobold.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered an unconscious woman who had sustained significant injuries. According to reports, the woman, identified as Burns, passed away two days later. According to reports, authorities have concluded that she was strangled.
According to charging documents, Kobold had a 30-day deadline to secure employment, tidy his room, and assist in cleaning the shared spaces of the residence, as reported by the Post-Tribune.
Man accused of killing his mother faces murder and aggravated battery charges, according to court records. The defendant has entered a plea of not guilty.
As per the school’s website, Burns held the position of assistant vice president in advancement at Loyola University in Chicago.
As per Kobold’s LinkedIn page, he commenced his studies at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 2022.
The trial for Kobold is set to commence in August. He is currently incarcerated in the Porter County Jail. According to a report from The Post-Tribune, Kobold initially filed a waiver to represent himself in February. However, an online court docket now shows that he was appointed a public defender in April.
