Siblings Fell into Pool; Parents Arrested after Sweet 2-year-old Drowned to Death; Son in Stable Condition in West Virginia
A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night near Hamlin, where a two-year-old girl lost her life and her three-year-old brother sustained injuries in a farm pond. As a result, the parents have been taken into custody and are currently in jail.
Jack Parsons, 30, and Tara Adkins, 24, were taken into custody by state troopers and spent the night in Western Regional jail. They face charges related to the tragic outcome of child neglect.
State police reported that their two children were discovered in the pond off of Scary Creek Road shortly before 9:30 on Wednesday night.
Tragically, the young girl passed away at Cabell Huntington Hospital. The boy’s condition is stable at Cabell Huntington.
The investigation by state police is ongoing.
As per the criminal complaint, Parsons informed troopers that he was engaged in yard work and believed that the children had entered the house. According to the account, Adkins inquired about the whereabouts of the children, prompting them to initiate a search.
That’s when they made a discovery in the pond. Parsons informed the authorities that he swiftly removed the children from the scene and promptly initiated CPR on his daughter.
Preliminary hearings are set to be scheduled for Parsons and Adkins as per Metro News.
Both individuals are currently being held in the Western Regional Jail on a bond of $100,000, which must be paid in cash.
