San Jose Cops Nab Homeless Perpetrator after Alleged Molestation and Assault Incident reported by Teenage Girl

A homeless man has been arrested by the San Jose Police Department for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl on her way home from school last month. A 50-year-old man, Julian Salvador Martinez, allegedly assaulted a young girl as she was walking along South 11th Street on April 9th, around 5:26 p.m.

According to the police, the incident occurred under the I-280 overpass when the victim was approached by Martinez, who then allegedly assaulted her sexually. A bicycle-riding suspect approached the victim. Following the victim’s successful resistance, Martinez quickly left the area on a bicycle, as confirmed by San Jose PD spokesperson Stacie Shih.

An investigation into the assault was initiated by the SJPD Sexual Assault Investigations Unit, which resulted in the identification of Martinez as the suspect.

Police have identified Martinez as a regular visitor to “The Jungle,” a large homeless encampment near Senter Road and Keyes Street.

On Thursday, May 16, SJPD patrol officers apprehended Martinez in the City of San Jose following a tip from a community member. According to the authorities, he has been arrested and is currently being held at Santa Clara County Main Jail for various offenses, including sexual assault.
