San Antonio Man Convicted of Child Sexual Assault Receives 70-year Sentence; Molested 10-year-old Girl at Home
A Bexar County jury gave a 63-year-old man 70 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl who was visiting his San Antonio home in the spring of 2023. He is now waiting to be sent to prison.
Felix Marfil was found guilty of one count of aggravated sexual attack on a child and one count of indecency with a child by contact.
Marfil was given 70 years in prison for aggravated sexual abuse of a child and 20 years for indecency with a child by contact on July 3. The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement late Friday that both terms will be served at the same time.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office looked into what happened. After Marfil was caught, Sheriff Javier Salazar said that the girl had been at Marfil’s house and was attacked when she went to an upstairs bedroom to get a toy.
Salazar said that Marfil’s wife called her downstairs while the girl was being abused. The girl said things to the woman while she was with the wife that made Marfil’s wife call the police.
In the text messages, the person basically says sorry but admits to sexually assaulting this little girl, Salazar said at the time.
The sentence and decision for the crimes against children show that our community is fully committed to keeping our kids safe, said Bexar County District Attorney Joe D. Gonzales in a statement.
Judge Michael E. Mery was in charge of Marfil’s case in the 144th District Court. The case was brought by Assistant District Attorneys Ruben Herrera and Ashley Haas of Bexar County. Dennis L. Moreno, a defense lawyer, fought for Marfil.
It is not clear when Marfil would be able to get out of jail. He will have to register with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a sex offender when he gets out of jail as reported by Express News.
