Robber Arrested after Homeowner Held Suspect at Gunpoint; Suspect Cooked Food for Himself and then Chased Owner in Indiana
A man from North Vernon was apprehended following an incident where he was allegedly confronted with a firearm during an unsuccessful break-in at a residence in Jennings County.
As per a social media post by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Jonathan Skaggs was apprehended on initial charges of burglary and residential entry following an incident that occurred early on Monday morning.
Authorities responded to a residence in the 1500 block east of County Road 150 South in the early hours of the morning. A man, later identified as Skaggs, allegedly entered the home, helped himself to some food, and entered a resident’s bedroom.
According to the post, Skaggs proceeded to pursue the resident throughout the house. The homeowner managed to retrieve a firearm and kept Skaggs under control until deputies arrived at the home. Skaggs was apprehended by deputies upon their arrival.
According to reports, Skaggs admitted to attempting to break into multiple homes, but this particular one happened to have an unlocked door. Skaggs has been preliminarily charged with burglary and residential entry.
