Rescue Operation in Full Swing; Many Rescued and Many Brace for Upcoming Weather in Mississippi

Four individuals stranded by flooding were successfully rescued by boat on Friday morning, as reported by the Smith County EMA.

Four individuals, one of whom is a 73-year-old man, were successfully rescued following the flooding of two residential properties.

Severe flooding occurred in the Louin community following intense storms on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Emergency officials reported significant water damage in one of the homes. There were no reported injuries.

The level of concern for Friday’s weather has decreased for the state, but there is still a chance of isolated strong storms. Potentially severe weather conditions, including strong gusts and hail, may occur during a particularly intense storm. There remains a potential for isolated flash flooding due to persistent heavy rainfall until late morning on Friday.

Intense rain and storms unleashed a dual threat on Thursday night and Friday.

Prepare for the arrival of the second wave of rain and storms, which will persist until 11 a.m. There is a chance of a gusty storm, but it is unlikely that the conditions will be favorable for severe storms.

Expect another round of rain later in the day, continuing into the evening. This evening, expect drier conditions in areas north of Interstate 20, while there will be a higher chance of rain and storms south of the metro. Strong storms are expected to impact the southern Pine Belt, Mississippi coast, and south Louisiana.
