Fort Lauderdale, Florida – During a Monday prayer service, students at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale prayed for their classmates who survived the terrible disaster in Pompano Beach on Friday, as well as the two youths who did not survive.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the 200 block of West Copans Road.
The vehicle carried five youngsters, two of whom, Richard Grable III and Jayden Vico, died.
“We’ve known Richie since like Pre-K, and it just doesn’t feel real,” said buddy Maverick McCour.
Grable was a former St. Thomas Aquinas student who now attends Fort Lauderdale High School, and Vico was a wrestler on the St. Thomas Aquinas squad.
“I just feel so bad for the families,” buddy John Myhre expressed. “They were amazing kids and this is a horrible thing that happened for everyone involved.”
Grable’s family members stated that he was confirmed brain dead on Sunday.
Andres Armjo, Vico’s buddy, characterized him as “a really nice guy.”
Ryan Bradley, Tomas Brown, and Aiden Finkel, the three surviving teenagers, remained in the hospital on Monday.
Monday’s solemn prayer gathering left many people feeling heavyhearted.
“Members from all over, including Miami and Fort Lauderdale, have come here today to show their support for the families of the children involved in this tragic accident,” said Juan Di’Prado, the Archdiocese of Miami’s communications director.
GoFundMe accounts have been established to assist those injured in the incident, as well as the families of those slain.
