Prank Gone Wrong in Maine as Homeowner Shot Teen to Death after Door Knock Prank; Shooter Arrested and Charged
Cumberland County, Maine- A Maine teenager was shot by a homeowner named Vincent Martin after the teen targeted his house in the ding-dong-ditch prank, according to the Sheriff.
An incident occurred early Saturday morning where a teenager was shot and injured after a group of friends played a prank on a homeowner in Maine who was armed with a gun, as reported by authorities.
A man named Vincent Martin, aged 30, reportedly shot at a group of teenagers who had played a prank on his house in the middle of the night, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a report from News Center Maine, Martin responded to a group of teenagers knocking on his door and quickly fired several shots, hitting one of them in the right calf. The incident occurred at Martin’s Waterford Road residence.
A teenager arrived at the hospital in stable condition, although officials did not disclose their age or gender.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered a trail of blood on the roadway and proceeded to apprehend Martin.
The individual is currently facing serious charges including elevated aggravated assault, aggravated reckless conduct, and two counts of discharging a firearm, according to the station.
Teens are embracing a fresh twist on the classic game of ding-dong-ditch, as they participate in the popular TikTok trend known as the “Door Knock” challenge. In this challenge, they energetically bang or kick a door before swiftly making their escape.
Earlier this year, a Texas police department issued a warning to young people, advising them against participating in a social media trend. The concern was that homeowners might mistake the prank for a burglary and react with potentially dangerous force.
