Police say an alleged trafficker kept a cocaine stash in a Miami Beach condominium with his 3-year-old son

A Miami Beach father has been arrested after allegedly exposing his 3-year-old son to a large-scale drug trafficking operation in their shared apartment, according to police.

Martin Andres Romero, 36, faces multiple drug trafficking charges as well as a child abuse charge, following a police investigation that uncovered a stash of various suspected narcotics in his home on West Avenue.

According to the arrest report, an undercover detective with Miami Beach Police purchased $200 worth of cocaine from Romero last week, leading to a search warrant for his apartment.

Inside, officers reportedly found a wide array of drugs, including:

  • 42 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 98 grams of suspected Ecstasy (MDMA)
  • 2 grams of suspected LSD
  • 157 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms
  • 602 grams of suspected ketamine
  • 6 grams of suspected fentanyl

Police also discovered equipment and substances used to produce “pink cocaine,” a synthetic drug cocktail often made by mixing ketamine with other narcotics.

Most troubling, authorities said, is that many of the drugs were located in areas easily accessible to Romero’s young child, raising serious concerns about the child’s safety and leading to the child abuse charge.

Romero was booked into jail and remains in custody pending further proceedings. All seized substances have been sent to a crime lab for testing.

No information has yet been released about the child’s current custody status.
