Police: Man Tries to Steal from Menards, Flees, Crashes, and Gets Caught by K9 after Brief Chase

St. Clair County, MI – A man from Harper Woods, Michigan, who is 49 years old, was taken into custody after he was accused of failing to steal from a Menards store located in St. Clair County.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a store in Port Huron after receiving allegations of a guy who had attempted to steal products before fleeing the store, as stated by the authorities. According to reports, the guy went back to the Menards store to get his pickup while the deputies were conducting their investigation there.

The driver is said to have fled down Lapeer Road in a hurry when law enforcement officers sought to conduct a traffic check. According to the authorities, the pursuit was stopped when the motorist was travelling at unsafe speeds at the Allen Road roundabout, which resulted in the car colliding with a forested area.

A K-9 unit from the Port Huron Police Department was able to locate him when he ran into the woods, and he was subsequently taken into jail.

On Monday, March 31, Ontario McDonald was charged with two charges of resisting and obstructing, as well as running and eluding, possessing analogues, engaging in organised retail fraud, driving recklessly, and committing two counts of resisting and obstructing.

There was a bond issued for him at $15,000.
