Police: Jonesboro Foster Parent Beat Child with Stick, Left Multiple Injuries

Jonesboro, AK – A Jonesboro man was taken into custody by police after they claimed he had struck a toddler with a stick.

According to the probable cause affidavit, a school resource officer was informed that “a child had multiple injuries to both of [their] arms and was complaining of [their] arms hurting.”

The victim informed the teacher that 29-year-old Byron Baker had “beaten them with a stick” for getting into trouble the previous day.

According to the report, the youngster suffered several injuries to their arms, legs, and pelvis.

In the affidavit, the victim named Baker as their foster parent and said that Baker frequently hit them.

After being notified, the victim was placed under the custody of the Department of Human Services.

After locating Baker, officers took him into custody on charges of second-degree domestic violence.

He is being held on a cash/surety bond of $50,000.

A no-contact order was also issued by the judge.
