Several individuals were hospitalized following an incident in a New York City school cafeteria, where a student, aged 11, discharged pepper spray.

A pepper spray incident occurred in the cafeteria of a Queens elementary school on Thursday morning, causing injuries to multiple individuals and resulting in 10 hospitalizations, according to The Post.

An incident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. when a student released a noxious gas inside P.S. 219 Paul Klapper on Gravett Road in Flushing, according to sources.

31 students and nine adults were injured after inhaling an airborne irritant during the mass spraying, according to the police.

Eight students and two adults were taken to NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital for treatment. According to the authorities, they are currently in stable condition.

According to sources, the remaining individuals either received an evaluation from a fire department physician or declined medical assistance.

The source of the pepper spray used by the student and the motive behind dispersing it within the school are still unknown.

Sources indicated that it remained uncertain whether the student would be subject to disciplinary repercussions.
