Pedestrian Struck Dead by Caltrain in San Mateo

San Mateo, CA: Authorities in San Mateo reported that a Caltrain fatally struck a pedestrian near San Mateo station.

The collision happened on Thursday morning. In the vicinity of the Hayward Park station, at 11:33 a.m., train no. 505 collided with the individual.

The agency spokeswoman Dan Lieberman briefed about the incident and said that the train had been moving northward.

The name of the pedestrian has not been published by the authorities. According to Lieberman, 74 people were riding the train. So far, no one else has been hurt.

All tracks are now open for business at the maximum permitted speeds, according to the agency, and emergency workers are still on the scene as of 1 p.m.
