Video footage shows a passenger being hauled off a plane after allegedly throwing a tantrum on board.

On Wednesday, June 25, a Thai Lion Air flight from Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok was delayed for approximately an hour to allow officials to remove a disruptive passenger.

The man, seen in videos obtained by PEOPLE wearing an orange Garfield t-shirt and green cargo shorts, apparently became enraged after flight attendants declined his request for a different seat from the one he was assigned.

“At first, I thought we couldn’t take off because the man had fallen ill,” claimed one man who shot video footage, according to Viral Press. “It turned out that he simply thought the economy seat was too crowded and insisted on relocating to the emergency exit. He refused to cooperate, so the flight attendants had to call the police.”

The rejection allegedly sparked a rage that lasted over an hour. To relieve the delay, authorities boarded the Boeing 737 and removed the traveler. Despite his persistent rejection, two officers grabbed his arms and forced him to the ground and into the aisle. The video then shows the man taking his phone and recording the incident himself.

In another part of the video, recorded from a different angle, a girl on board can be heard yelling “he’s f—— selfish,” as he’s being hauled down the aisle. The removal required one cop to haul him by his arms and another by his belt. Another passenger can be heard screaming, “Get out of the plane.”

This is not the first time that footage of passengers being taken from a flight has gone viral. On June 17, a 32-year-old female New York resident was held and taken off a Southwest flight from LaGuardia to Kansas City. She was seen tugging a fellow flyer’s hair and spitting on him.

Following her outburst, the passenger was removed off the flight and charged with aggravated assault, according to a Port Authority Police statement obtained by PEOPLE.

Another video taken by a fellow passenger and shared online shows the woman ultimately being removed from the plane. Port Authority Police had to roll the woman out of the gate area while strapped to a gurney. Several of her other passengers can be seen shooting the situation in the distance.

“The suspect was transported to the hospital for evaluation and subsequently placed in the custody of the New York City Department of Correction,” a Port Authority PD representative stated.
