Pair Pleaded Guilty of Kidnapping Man after Date Trap and Stabbing Victim 19 Times in Alabama: Prosecutors
A woman from Alabama pleaded guilty just as her trial was about to start. She had set up a deceptive date, convincing the target to be blindfolded and handcuffed, only to allow another man to stab him 19 times.
In a recent court ruling, Shalyn Diaz has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her involvement in a stabbing incident that occurred in January. Prosecutors report that Diaz pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
The Geneva County Sheriff’s Office reported that Diaz reached out to the victim through Facebook Messenger on Jan. 6 and arranged a date for the following day. They planned to explore the area together in her car. She picked him up from his Dothan apartment at approximately 7 p.m.
Little did the victim know, a man named Robert Hall was concealed in the trunk.
After driving for some time, Diaz decided to stop the car and asked the victim to sit in the back seat. The victim was then instructed to wear handcuffs and a blindfold. Once the victim complied, Hall discreetly exited the trunk and made his way to the backseat. According to deputies, Hall allegedly choked the victim with a cord and stabbed him.
According to deputies, Hall forcefully pulled the victim out of the car and proceeded to stab him multiple times. The victim was stabbed a total of 19 times.
Hall and Diaz quickly fled the scene in the car, abandoning the victim on the side of the road. Fortunately, a driver noticed the victim, who was still wearing handcuffs with a cord around his neck, and quickly called for assistance. The victim was quickly transported to a hospital in a critical condition, but fortunately, he managed to survive his injuries.
Hall and Diaz were apprehended by law enforcement shortly after the incident, and in April, they were formally charged with attempted murder and kidnapping by a grand jury. Hall has been found guilty of attempted murder and has been sentenced to life in prison by a judge Law&Crime reported.
