Ohio Teen Smuggled Contraband to Inmates in Jail; was an Intern at Alleged Location; Arrested after Drug Bust by Ohio Authorities
A teenage intern at the Butler County Jail is now facing multiple charges after confessing to providing drugs and a cell phone to federal prisoners, including one who was involved in the fatal shooting of a local store owner during a robbery. This information has been documented in both federal and county records.
A 17-year-old girl from Hamilton has been arrested and is facing charges for allegedly smuggling drugs into a detention facility, along with a prohibited item, namely a cell phone.
According to juvenile court records, she was also charged with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct.
The teen confessed to bringing marijuana and ecstasy into the jail in Hamilton on or about March 1, as stated in her criminal complaint.
An incident report shows that the crimes were reported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office three days later.
During a recent hearing, the attorney representing her argued that her statements were made under coercion, in violation of her constitutional rights. However, the motion to have the statements thrown out was ultimately denied by the juvenile court judge.
The trial has been scheduled for July 15, with a potential second day on July 18 if needed. The hearings are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The teenager, who recently celebrated her 18th birthday, has been released from the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center and placed under electronically monitored house arrest.
Additionally, she was instructed to attend school on a daily basis.
According to the sheriff’s office, her internship was part of Butler Tech’s criminal justice program.
According to sheriff’s records released to FOX19 NOW, the individuals in question are Willie Attaway and Larkin McGowan, both 32 years old.
According to jail records, the teen’s cell phone was repeatedly contacted regarding a discussion about bringing drugs to the jail.
