Sacramento, CA: The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that on Monday night, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake shook the area off the coast of Northern California. The earthquake sent seismic waves through the area.

The USGS says the earthquake happened at 9:26 p.m. and its center was about 9.2 miles west-southwest of Klamath, which is a census-designated place. The center of the quake was also about 43.8 miles north of Arcata.

The earthquake took place near the coast, west of the line that separates Del Norte and Humboldt counties. Even though the earthquake was in the middling range in terms of size, there have been no reports of major injuries or damage yet.

The USGS is keeping a close eye on things and gathering information to figure out how bad the earthquakes are.
