New York Man killed and Chopped a Woman; Disposed her body after she refused to Prostitution, also forced several Teenage and Adult Females into Prostitution across New York
New York City, NY: Somorie Moses, aka “Somorie Barfield,” “Sugar Bear,” “Bear,” and “Daddy,” was handed ten concurrent life sentences by United States District Judge Carol Bagley Amon in Brooklyn federal court.
Moses was convicted on ten counts of sex trafficking eight women and murdering one of those women, Leondra Foster, in January 2017. The Court heard victim impact testimonials from multiple defendant victims throughout the sentencing hearing.
This case marks the initial use of the federal law that makes it a crime to commit murder while engaging in sex trafficking. August 2023 was the month in which Moses entered his guilty plea.
Moses has been enticing girls and women with empty promises of love since at least 2003 before turning them into prostitutes through the use of physical coercion, psychological manipulation, and threats. Moses tattooed his first name, “Somorie,” on the bodies of many of his victims and retained all the money they made as prostitutes.

In Brooklyn and Queens, Moses forced his victims into prostitution by raping, torturing, and severely abusing them. At the sentencing hearing, the victim was named Jane Doe #1, and Moses threatened to hurl her off a roof, rape her, bite her buttocks, and spit it at her.
Another victim, Jane Doe #2, had severe scarring over most of her body as a result of Moses’ brutal assault, which included using a razor to slice her arms and back, beating her with a belt, and then applying lemon juice to her wounds.
Jane Doe #6, who was identified as the victim, was beaten with an extension cord, leaving her with multiple open and bleeding wounds. Moses then said that he “was a pimp, this is what [he] did” when she refused to pay him the money he requested.
Jane Doe #7 was threatened with the death of herself and her kid by Moses when she expressed her disapproval of working as a prostitute. Moses responded by placing a firearm in her mouth.
One of Moses’s victims of sex trafficking, Leondra Foster, was beaten to death in the early hours of January 13, 2017. Foster suffered cuts and bruises all over her body as a result of the defendant’s violent assault.
Moses smacked Foster on the head at least five times or pounded her head against something else, causing blunt-force injuries. The strike that struck her on the left side of her head was a deadly one.
Except for the final hit, which shattered her skull and knocked her out cold, she had survived every previous injury. Foster had a seizure and passed away shortly after. Moses mutilated Foster’s body in their Brooklyn apartment the following morning with the help of a saw and a knife.
Even though Foster’s severed body was concealed in it, Moses lured another woman back to his flat for a sexual encounter. The woman then reported a strong bleach smell in the residence to the authorities. Moses took Foster’s corpse and limbs to a landfill in the Bronx for disposal on the morning of January 17, 2017, four days later.
Moses texted another victim, “Just did 110 over the Brooklyn bridge.” He then proceeded to dispose of the majority of Foster’s body parts. Moses was on his way home from the Bronx. Law police later found Foster’s remains in Moses’s apartment freezer, along with his limbs (including a foot tattooed with the name “Somorie”). The murder occurred while Foster was 32 years old.
