Nebraska Woman Trafficked by Houston Man; Pimp Arrested after Undercover Operation: Authorities
Houston, TX- An individual who identified themselves as a pimp has been apprehended in Harris County following a distressing incident involving a woman from Nebraska.
The victim reported that she had traveled to Houston, where she was subjected to trafficking and ultimately found herself in the hospital. This information was revealed in an arrest warrant obtained by KPRC 2.
Lyndon Wilburn, a 26-year-old individual, is facing charges related to aggravated promotion of prostitution, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. The total bond amount has been set at $210,000.
According to records, Wilburn connected with the woman on Instagram and then arranged for her to travel from Nebraska to Houston on April 28 using a “buddy pass.”
Shortly after she arrived, Wilburn faced allegations of photographing her and sharing the images on a website associated with the sale of sexual services. He then proceeded to bring her to various hotels in the area, including Baton Rouge, LA, for the purpose of engaging in commercial sexual activities.
On his Instagram story, he posted a picture from a hotel room with a song playing in the background that investigators claimed depicted his controversial lifestyle. She shared a photo on her account that showed a view of a parking lot.
According to the victim, she expressed her desire to quit working for Wilburn after her initial day in Houston. In response, he reportedly resorted to assaulting her in order to coerce her into continuing to work.
According to records, she developed an abscess and had to be hospitalized near his apartment. She was then considered “out of commission” and flew back to Nebraska on May 4.
After returning home, she bravely spoke out about sex trafficking and reported the incident to the Omaha Police Department.
Records indicate that an FBI agent reached out to a Texas DPS special agent who was already conducting an investigation on Wilburn. The special agent had been monitoring Wilburn’s Instagram profile using an undercover account.
The victim informed investigators that Wilburn frequently wore clothing from the brand “A Bathing Ape,” commonly known as BAPE. They also mentioned that such clothing is often associated with individuals known as “Gorilla pimps,” who use physical violence or assault to control their victims.
Wilburn’s Instagram profile features a “P” emoji beneath a highlight reel, which investigators have noted in records as a method used by traffickers to promote their pimp occupation.
Additionally, there are videos showcasing him with firearms and significant amounts of money. Investigators believe that this is a strategy used to romanticize and attract individuals to this particular way of life.
Records indicate that investigators noticed a similarity between the decor in the suspect’s Instagram photos and the decor in the background of the victim’s sex advertisement photos.
According to the warrant, investigators suspect that he may have been profiting from the involvement of at least one additional victim in commercial sex acts.
Harris County court records reveal that Wilburn has a history of convictions, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assault of a family member. According to records, he was granted deferred adjudication in both felony cases.
