Nebraska Teen Found Dismembered and Burnt in Arizona Desert after High School Graduation Party, Killer Indicted in Arizona
Phoenix, AZ: The murder and dismemberment of an 18-year-old guy who was discovered dead in a desert location called “The Pit” led to the indictment of a man by the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office about a year after the murder.
Flying all the way from Nebraska, 18-year-old Parker League was celebrating his high school graduation in the Phoenix region. Unfortunately, the vacation took a fatal turn when he was killed. On June 12, 2023, his remains were discovered in a fire pit within Tonto National Forest.
A 38-year-old man named Anthonie Ruinard was apprehended on July 5 by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Ruinard is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, narcotic drug manufacturing, two counts of possession for sale, one count of drug possession equipment for manufacturing, two counts of possession by a prohibited person, one count of credit card theft, one count of fraudulent use of a credit card, and one count of abandonment or concealment of a dead body or body parts.
At the end of the day, the grand jury decided to indict Ruinard for murder and handling a dead body.
Payments made with League’s bank card following the discovery of his body allegedly alerted the authorities. In October, the case was filed to prosecutors by the sheriff’s office.
According to the prosecution, League was “dismembered, stabbed, and burned beyond recognition.” In order to positively identify the corpse, the medical examiner had to consult dental records.
“Detectives were able to get video footage from various locations where Parker’s bank card was being used after he was discovered deceased,” stated the Maricopa sheriff’s office in a statement released at the time of the arrest.
The sheriff’s office claims surveillance footage shows the victim and perpetrator together just before League’s death.

As part of their investigation of Ruinard’s residence and vehicle for the purposes of the warrant, officers discovered DNA evidence belonging to League. Parker was last seen by deputies at a residence in Tempe, Arizona, while he was visiting friends, according to their investigation. Everything he owned was abandoned at that location.
