Multi-Vehicle Crash in Paterson, 3 Injured and 13 Vehicles Damaged, Caused by Oil Leak
Tuesday night, a jackknifed tractor-trailer spilled diesel gasoline across the highway and into the Passaic River, causing a 13-car pileup that injured some drivers.
New Jersey police and emergency personnel raced to the scene. The incident’s video shows a tractor-trailer that has jackknifed, obstructing both lanes of traffic.
Another photo shows a firefighter from Paterson, New Jersey, who arrived at the site sledding around on a black ice-covered highway. Additionally, the footage shows a car on a flatbed tow truck with all of its airbags deployed and the rear end completely shattered.
Cars were pointing in the direction opposite to the flow of traffic, and some cars were sideways on the road.
Additionally, workers were observed clearing fluids from beneath the truck trailer. They were observed shoveling and sweeping a quick-dry material that is meant to absorb fluids like oil and other substances that can pollute the environment or create dangerous circumstances on routes.
The road was sanded down by salt trucks following the collision.
