Multi-State Burglary Ring Busted by Cops in New Jersey; Illegal Migrants Arrested and Charged: DOJ

According to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, six Chilean nationals have been charged with conspiring to commit residential burglaries in multiple states, targeting homeowners.

Flavio Bladimir Astete Castillo, Dareyen Mauricio Cortes-Canete, Luis Esteban Castillo Vivar, Max Vidal Navarrete, Jordán Estefano Contreras Vilches, and Juan Jose Ramirez Nilo, all from Chile, have been charged with conspiracy to sell and receive stolen property that had crossed state lines, as well as receiving stolen property that had crossed state lines.

A group of individuals have been identified as members of a burglary ring responsible for a series of residential burglaries that occurred in March and April 2024 across several states, including Maryland and New York. The defendants were involved in a plot to acquire significant quantities of jewelry, collectibles, and other valuable items, along with various other goods. On April 19, 2024, a group discreetly transported a stolen security safe taken from a residence, taking measures to avoid detection by concealing their actions from security cameras.

During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered a variety of valuable items including jewelry, collectible coins, and cufflinks. They also found tools commonly associated with residential burglaries, such as gloves, balaclavas, and window punches.

If convicted, the accused could face up to five years in prison for conspiracy to sell or receive stolen property, and up to 10 years in prison for receipt of stolen property. Both charges also come with a maximum potential penalty of up to a $250,000 fine, or twice the amount of money involved in the offense, whichever is greater.
