Mother Shot Dead and Infant Daughter died from Heat in the Car, Father also shot at different location in Florida, Killer arrested after 3 Years of Manhunt
Miami, FL: A 20-year-old mother was shot dead and her infant daughter was left in the car in which her mother was shot dead. The child died from heat in the car. The father of the child was also shot at a different location in Miami. The authorities launched a manhunt for the alleged shooter back in 2021 when the tragic incident happened.
Three years later, the manhunt concluded when the suspect was arrested. A 23-year-old man named Doujon Duwayne Griffiths was apprehended in Linden following a traffic stop. He had been wanted since 2021 for allegedly killing 20-year-old Massania Malcolm and her 1-year-old daughter, Jordania.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) then revealed that he was wanted for first-degree murder in Florida. Orange County will reportedly receive Griffiths’ extradition request.
According to the sheriff’s office, he is also facing attempted murder charges for killing Massania’s boyfriend, who happens to be Jordania’s father. Griffiths may have pleaded guilty or hired a lawyer to do so, but it is not apparent which.
Around 5 a.m. local time on September 7, 2021, deputies were dispatched to an apartment in Pine Castle, Florida, in response to a shooting incident. They discovered a man in his twenties with numerous gunshot wounds; his identity has not been made public.
A relative of the victim informed authorities two days later, on September 9, 2021, that they had been unable to contact the man’s girlfriend and infant daughter, according to the OSCO’s statement. Returning to the couple’s residence, deputies found no one present and no indications of wrongdoing, according to their statement.
According to Orange County Sheriff John Mina, during a press conference in 2021, the victim informed authorities that his friend Griffiths had shot him from the back seat while he was driving after he recovered consciousness.
The father took their daughter, Jordania, and his girlfriend, Massania, in the family car, claiming he thought she might have been shot too.
According to the sheriff, the deaths of Massania and Jordania were discovered inside the vehicle shortly after by OCSO auto theft detectives, who were positioned in a parking lot less than one mile distant from the family’s residence.
The 1-year-old probably succumbed to the heat inside the car, according to Mina, who stated at the time that Massania had been shot to death. They had likely been lifeless for “a couple of days,” he said.
Griffiths’ claimed “lack of contribution to the household for the amount of time he had stayed there” reportedly led to mounting animosity between his family and the investigators. According to the authorities who spoke with the media source, Massania and her boyfriend had just dropped off Griffiths at a bus station when the shooting happened on September 7.
