Mother of 2 Found Burning on Highway in California; Was Shot and Stabbed before Setting Ablaze: Authorities
An unidentified individual is still on the loose in the unresolved homicide of a young mother whose body was discovered engulfed in flames on a freeway in Southern California.
The lifeless body of Karla Terron, aged 27, was discovered on the Hosking Avenue off-ramp of the southbound 99 Freeway in Bakersfield at approximately 5 a.m. The incident happened on December 17, 2022.
Prior to her tragic demise, Terron had gathered with acquaintances at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3834 in San Fernando.
She eventually visited a residence in San Fernando where she tragically lost her life. Officials suspect that her remains were moved inside the trunk of a white 2021 Honda CRV and subsequently abandoned in Bakersfield.
The cause of her death was determined to be multiple stab wounds, as revealed by the autopsy. Authorities suspect that the suspect set Terron’s body ablaze in an effort to eliminate any potential evidence.
Terron, a resident of San Fernando, was a devoted mother to her two young children – an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old. She was employed at a restaurant in close proximity, serving as a waitress as reported by KTLA.
Reports of a gunshot being heard in the Knox Street area have been received by investigators around the time of the incident.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help on the case. Anyone who may have seen the suspect’s vehicle near the VFW Bar or on Knox Street between the late-night hours of Dec. 16, 2022, and the early morning hours of Dec. 17, 2022, is asked to call authorities.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
