New York City, NY: The severe beating and subsequent abandonment of a 5-year-old on Long Island led to the conviction of a couple from Queens, New York, for second-degree murder.
Valerie Owusu and Emmanuel Addae were found guilty on March 22, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. This occurred nearly three years after the body of Owusu’s son, King, was discovered in a Brentwood, N.Y., house.
According to District Attorney Raymond Tierney, the young kid was brutally assaulted by the defendants, including his own mother, and endured days of pain and suffering until he tragically passed away from his serious injuries.
Tierney went on to say, “The defendants have been held accountable for this horrific crime thanks to the thorough investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department, the relentless pursuit of justice by the prosecutors assigned to this case, and the jury’s careful consideration of the evidence presented.”
Owusu and Addae were accused by prosecutors of abusing the youngster for three days in 2021 using “at least four different instruments.” The boy’s health declined to the point that he passed out.

Prosecutors claimed that neither Owusu nor Addae had rendered medical assistance to King or dialed 911.
After having the child taken to the home of a relative on April 1, 2021, Addae and Owusu abandoned him there. King was allegedly discovered dead when the relative returned home, according to prosecutors.
The youngster was beaten severely, injuring him “head to toe,” according to the authorities.
On May 1, Owusu and Addae will be condemned to life in jail without the possibility of parole.
