Seattle, WA: MOD Pizza settles with the Seattle Office of Labor Standards, and will pay $80,000 to 80 employees. The company is required to pay $622.85 in fines to the city.

An agreement was reached following OLS’s claim that the University District location violated the city’s Secure Scheduling Ordinance.

The restaurant was accused of not providing employees with a written schedule at least two weeks in advance of their first scheduled shift.

“The Office of Labor Standards has done commendable work in this case and others to support workers’ rights.” Many of us may feel helpless at work, but there are ways to change that. “And standing up for your rights at work is one way to start making a difference,” stated a MOD Pizza employee.

According to OLS, MOD Pizza has now received its second violation of the ordinance. The initial breach led to a $12,300 resolution distributed among 30 impacted workers.

Having a consistent schedule is crucial for employees. Director of the Office of Labor Standards, Steven Marchese, emphasized the importance of the Secure Scheduling Ordinance for providing advance notice.

MOD Pizza boasts over 20,000 employees globally and multiple branches in Seattle.
